Employers Report Back on Talent Shortages

Source: Business & Legal Reports
May 24, 2010

A recent survey reported on current talent shortages in the job market. Manpower conducted its Talent Shortage Survey and found that 14% of employers reported having trouble hiring workers for key positions. In addition, the survey found that 31% of employers had trouble finding qualified employees.

The survey reports that the most difficult occupations to fill are in the fields of:

  • Skilled trades
  • Sales representatives
  • Nurses
  • Technicians

Employers can follow good hiring practices to help find qualified employees, eliminate many legal risks, reduce costs, increase productivity, and improve morale. Employers should also consider hiring incentives, such as the tax exemption available under the HIRE Act. More information on hiring can be found under the Hiring topic section.
